Gagen Mccoy Sponsors San Ramon Valley Education Foundation Event Honoring Marianne Gagen

Gagen, McCoy, McMahon, Koss, Markowitz & Fanucci is a proud sponsor of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation’s “Night With The Stars,” a fundraising dinner honoring longtime school’s champion Marianne Gagen. The event took place on April 29, 2014 at the Diablo Country Club.

Marianne, wife of senior partner Bill Gagen, served on San Ramon Valley Unified School District board for 12 years. In 1990, she, along with Joan Buchanan, Stuart Goldware, Al Leck and Linda Wurzbach, won election to the board in a clean sweep. They ushered in a culture of collaboration with the community and employee groups to settle multiple lawsuits, establish healthy employee relations, introduce long term fiscal responsibility, remodel decrepit schools and build new ones. Marianne and her fellow board members set in motion consistent staff development geared toward improving student learning.

Marianne joined the Endowment committee of SRVEF in 1998 while serving on the Board of Education. She became its liaison to the SRVEF Board in 2005 and joined the Board as a member in 2009.

Marianne’s interest in education and young people is lifelong. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Secondary Teaching Credential from UC Berkeley in History and French and a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language. Before joining the school board, she taught full time and part time for 18 years and was active in PTA and the Danville-Alamo-Walnut Creek American Association of University Women. She served on the St. Mary’s College School of Education’s Corporate Advisory Committee for 10 years, and has served on Contra Costa County’s Family and Children’s Trust Fund Advisory Committee for child abuse prevention, intervention and treatment for 20 years.

Marianne has been the recipient of the 1992 State of California’s 7th Senatorial District’s Woman of the Year, Del Valley Council of PTA’s Honorary Service and in 2006, the Danville Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award.

All proceeds of the event will benefit the SRVEF Major Gifts and Endowment Fund for long-term, innovative education programs.
